Our Culture of Service is founded on compassion, humility, respect and selfless service (Seva). These values guide our relationships with children, whānau, kaiako and the wider community, creating an environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed and valued. We work in genuine partnership with families, celebrating their cultural identities, aspirations and contributions while supporting families from Indian communities and all cultural backgrounds to develop a strong sense of belonging in Aotearoa New Zealand without losing connection to their own languages, cultures, identities and traditions.
We are committed to providing equitable opportunities for every child to participate, learn and succeed. We recognise and respond to the strengths, interests, abilities, cultures, languages and identities of each child, working collaboratively with whānau to promote equitable and excellent learning outcomes.
Kaiako build trusting, respectful and responsive relationships with children, recognising that meaningful learning grows from secure attachments and a strong sense of belonging. We nurture children’s natural curiosity, creativity and confidence, encouraging them to explore, question, solve problems, express their ideas and make meaningful choices about their own learning. We recognise children as active participants in decisions that affect them and support them to become independent, resilient and lifelong learners.
Our curriculum is guided by Te Whāriki and empowers children to learn through play within an unhurried, well-resourced and stimulating environment. Kaiako intentionally extend children’s thinking through thoughtful interactions, sustained shared conversations, rich learning experiences and purposeful teaching strategies that respond to children’s interests, strengths and emerging ideas. Assessment, planning and evaluation are informed by children’s learning, whānau aspirations and ongoing observation to ensure meaningful learning pathways for every child.
We value the concept of Ako, recognising that everyone is both a learner and a teacher. Kaiako acknowledge the knowledge, experiences and perspectives that tamariki, whānau and teachers bring to our learning community and understand that new understandings emerge through collaboration, shared experiences and respectful relationships.
Providing quality education and care involves developing authentic partnerships with whānau, recognising that children’s learning begins at home and is strengthened through shared responsibility. We actively seek and value whānau voice, incorporating their aspirations into curriculum planning and decision-making while maintaining open, respectful and reciprocal communication.
Children are supported through positive guidance, Aroha and respectful relationships that promote emotional wellbeing, social competence and confidence. Kaiako intentionally scaffold children’s social and emotional learning, encouraging empathy, resilience, cooperation and respectful interactions. We listen carefully, seek to understand deeply before acting, and make thoughtful decisions that promote positive outcomes for individuals and groups of children.
Our passionate kaiako are committed to lifelong learning and professional growth. Through ongoing professional learning, reflective practice, teaching inquiry and internal evaluation, we continually strengthen our practice and evaluate the effectiveness of our teaching to
improve outcomes for every child. We use evidence from observations, assessment, whānau feedback and evaluation to inform continuous improvement and ensure our curriculum remains responsive, inclusive and effective.
We honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi by recognising Māori as tangata whenua and by authentically embedding te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori throughout our daily programme. We value Te Ao Māori and work to foster culturally responsive practices that strengthen children’s understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand’s bicultural heritage while promoting equitable outcomes for Māori learners.
Nature is valued as our third teacher. Children are encouraged to become kaitiaki by caring for themselves, one another and the environment through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Sustainability is woven throughout our curriculum as children develop respect
for the natural world, understand their responsibility to care for it and experience the joy of learning outdoors.
As a community-based early learning centre, we value reciprocal relationships with our wider community. These partnerships strengthen children’s sense of belonging, enrich learning experiences and support families to thrive within our centre and the wider community.
Together, we strive to create a learning community where every child is empowered to flourish as a confident, connected and capable learner who feels respected, valued and inspired to make a positive contribution to their community and the world around them.
